About a week ago I wrote a post that showed a number of healthcare ads that I had clipped from publications. The post can be found at http://tinyurl.com/27knvve
. The response to the post was really positive, so I thought I'd share another batch of ads that I clipped this week. I'm always trying to keep my staff informed about what other marketers are doing in the industry. As part of that effort, I… Continue

When I see national ads from medical centers I tend to cut them out and put them on the bulletin board at work - for better or worse.
Consider this post an inside look at the bulletin board at Jennings. Just because I am featuring these ads does not mean that I am endorsing them as quality healthcare advertising. I just think it is helpful to see what's out there - and how they vary in tonality, design and messaging. Take a look below and let me know which ads you find appealing. And… Continue

Another good day today at CBM 2010. One of the great things about coming to this conference is reconnecting with so many terrific healthcare marketers. As a bonus, I got to hang out with Richard Cohen of Healthcare Marketing Report and Marianne Aiello of HealthLeaders. They were both here covering the conference for their publications. Richard and I have known each other for years and he has generously allowed me to contribute to his publication several times. Marianne is a rising star at… Continue

We had an interesting general session today presented by Bob Isherwood - a guy with some big agency experience. I'm always a little leery going into presentations like this at healthcare marketing conferences because often the speaker won't make his or her experience relevant to healthcare, or they fail in the attempt. To my delight, Bob did a nice job of connecting his experience and views on advertising with what we do in healthcare.
What surprised me about the presentation was the… Continue

The Fifteenth Annual National Forum on Customer Based Marketing Strategies takes place this week in Atlanta. I’ll be in attendance and posting commentary on my blog. I’ll also be tweeting (@dandunlop) if I can manage to juggle all the social media activities. It is a lot to keep up with. I’ll also be presenting, together with Tim Brennan of Tufts Medical Center, on Thursday afternoon. Judy Neiman from the Forum for Healthcare Strategy was kind enough to invite us to present. Honestly, I can’t… Continue

As I was flying to Boston at 6am on Wednesday, I thought about how lucky I am to have such an amazingly beautiful commute to work! For the last couple of weeks I've been working in the New England. It was Southwestern Vermont last week and the Boston area this week. Here's a look at my commute Wednesday morning:
My guess is that you'll agree with me that in this day and age it is easy to be negative about air travel. It is such a hassle compared… Continue

Yesterday I learned that Mark Shelley (Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, SC) and I will be presenting together at the 2010 SHSMD conference. I was excited to get the email notification. I’ve found that it is a challenge to get a speaker’s proposal accepted by the conference planning committee. I applied for several years before I finally broke through and made it onto their conference faculty. Fortunately, this will be my third year in a row presenting. I’ve learned to never take it for… Continue
