Population Health Management & Healthcare Marketing

Last Friday I had the pleasure of attending a great conference on the impact of population health management on healthcare marketing sponsored by the Massachusetts Hospital Association and the New England Society for Healthcare Communications. I was fortunate to serve on the planning committee for the event, and to have a hand in selecting some of the speakers. It was a terrific event!…

Yesterday I left my hotel at 5:30am and took a cab to Boston Logan Airport to pick up a rental car for the day. I then spent 11 hours traveling across Massachusetts meeting with physicians, office managers and referral coordinators at various medical practices. Days like this, where I am in the field visiting practices and listening to healthcare professionals, are so rewarding. I learn so much. And I always return to my hotel…

My Pilgrimage to Mayo - Year Two

This week I am attending the 4th annual Mayo Ragan Healthcare Social Media Summit. What I love about this conference is the concentration of healthcare social media thought leaders. Of all the conferences I attend each year, this is the one where I bump into the folks I follow on Twitter for their insights on healthcare social media. The line up of speakers and…

The Healthcare Marketing Professional Version 2.5

My life as a healthcare marketer has me wondering about the skill set that will be mandatory for tomorrow's healthcare marketers (and I mean tomorrow as in the day after today - not in some scifi, futuristic sense):

Over the last several months I've dedicated a significant block of time to exploring social platforms like Pinterest, Google+ and apps like instagram. Pinterest and Instagram are very hot and I needed to figure them out. Technology has become such a huge part of my work…

The email shows a photo of a non-traditional environment that looks more like a European boutique hotel than a medical practice. But what caught my attention was the advertising copy that accompanies the…

Pink, Pushy and Profitable

One Caveat: Before reading this post, please know that I am not a cancer patient, nor am I a cancer survivor. When it comes to the whole Pink Movement, I defer to those on the front lines - cancer patients and survivors. If you'd like the perspective of one amazing cancer advocate and survivor, check out this blog post by Jody Schoger titled "…
